Baking and Head Bonks!

During these cold snowy winter days I have had many cooking lessons with Kate.  I remember loving the times my mom and I would make chocolate chip cookies together when I was little.  Who knows, maybe that was the spark that led me to the love of cooking.  Anyway,  a few weeks ago we baked some turnovers for the 1st time.

I got a new apron for Christmas.  Kate dug hers out along with her chef's hat so we both looked like the real deal. Will was the official taste tester for the event.

Mixing Away!

1 turn over down,  many more to go.

We did it!  A great pic except for Kate insists on crossing her eyes FOR EVERY PICTURE!!!

On another note,  a few weeks ago I got the dreaded call from the school nurse reporting that Kate had a run in with a boy and some playground equipment at recess.  The goose egg was pretty big, but Kate was even tougher!  She took the rest of the day off because as she put it...."it hurt to think."   It took a good week for the blue egg to go away.  During that time, she asked me almost every day if she could wear her favorite sun hat to school to cover it up.  I thought that was a pretty clever idea myself!

Papa's 60th Birthday

Papa turned 60 back on January 6th!  We had a little birthday party for him at our house. I made my 2 time award winning chili recipe for dinner followed by his favorite custard pie for dessert.

We went skiing at Sleepy Hollow that afternoon.  It was Kate's 2nd time skiing and Will's first.  Both kiddos were super excited and brave.  It was a really cold day, but they loved it anyway.

Will watched for a few minutes before diving in.
Brett held him between his legs and off they went.  They flew down the "mountain" I'm guessing 15 times.
Kate had a fun time too!  She is slowly getting more comfortable with going down on her own.  I can see Colorado as a vacation spot in the near future.  I better get back to skiing soon too.  I can't let my children beat me on the slopes!!

Children's Museum Visit

Over Christmas Break while we were back in Williamsburg we visited the Children's Museum.  We have visited many different children's museums, but not the one just down the road from our home town.  The kids were so excited to go.  The grocery store was definitely a hit.  Kate's cart looks a lot like mine does each week!
Will was the typical impatient customer in line.  He spotted that Turkey on the shelf and was adament he was going to cook it for us.
The dental clinic was cute.  Kate showed me how to do "circles" like Ms. Ronda our hygenist taught her.
"Driving" the airplane to Florida again with Nana and Papa!

Kate had to wait for awhile to get in the drivers seat of the big airplane.  Totally worth it she thought.
The trip ended with a ride on the Merry-go-round.  The kids had a great time.  They couldn't believe it when we told them that Mom and Dad use to go on dates at that mall when we were younger!!  Shocked them with that one!!
