Catch up on July Fun :)

Trying to catch up a bit...... So Sorry about the gap in posts!  Anyway, for the past 2-3 years we have been able to participate in the 4th of July Parade back in W'burg with my parents.  This year we decided to make our entry a Christmas theme.   Papa dressed up as Santa,  Will was Rudolph, and the rest of us were elves!  We had so much fun and think we may expand further on our Christmas in July theme next year!

The kids enjoyed all the fun activities going on around the square.

The cake walk is always a winner.

Kate will never pass on an opportunity to ride a horse.

And Will loved the cowboy hat accessory Nana bought for him.

The kids had a great time and it was a beautiful day!

On another note...... Will got his first official team swim suit to wear at his first swim meet this summer.  To say he was excited is an understatement!

The Zoo Membership got used quite a bit this summer!  Seeing the animals never gets old  for my kids.

And they ALWAYS want me to take their picture EVERY TIME WE ARE THERE!!  I have multiple copies of the same pose, but their always excited to take another pic :)

And Finally,  we have been in our house for over 10 years now and some of the initial fixtures and small projects we did when we moved in are now needing replaced.  The kitchen light we put in 10 years ago finally bit the dust.  So Brett and Kate came to the rescue and replaced it so I didn't have to wear my headlamp to cook any longer :)

A Tour Of Washington D.C.

We all had a fabulous time at the wedding!  Once the festivities ended we spent a few more days in the city to see some of the great monuments and sights.

I wasn't so sure what Will would think of the monuments.  My initial thought was that he was a bit young for this tour, but we would give it a shot.  Well, I was wrong!  He really enjoyed the entire city.  The Lincoln Memorial was our first stop.  When we started to approach the top of the stairs, Will stopped and look up a few times, turned to me and said,  "Hey Mom, that's the guy who is on the penny!"   He was so excited!!!

It was a beautiful day to see all the sights that we see on T.V. in person.

You can't see it here, but as we were taking a little break by the Washington Monument, a man was in the grass field flying a huge kite.  Will (who just can't sit still) headed down to watch him.  Well, the man was an expert kite flyer and was able to manipulate the kite as if it was a puppet to play with Will.  Will would chase the bouncing kite for awhile, and then the kite would turn and chase him!  Will just giggled and laughed the entire time!  And he drew quite a crowd watching him run around and having so much fun!!

The National Zoo was on our list 1 day.  Unfortunately, it was a really rainy day.....Fortunately we virtually had the whole zoo to ourselves.  We bought some rain ponchos and umbrellas and got moving :)

The monkeys are always a hit  as they are so human like.

A little out of order, but I like this cute pic of Brett :)

From this shot you would think he was having a horrible time!  He just wasn't really wanting his picture taken at that moment.

Once again, my son never stands still!!

On our final night,  Jill and Stephan took us to a fabulous Farm to Table restaurant just down from the White House.  We had really yummy dinner and then took a walk down to see the White House.   Ironically, while we were there, something must have gotten security excited as all the spotlights turned on the front lawn and they cleared the area.  We never did figure out what it was, but kind of excited to watch all the action!

We had a great time in D.C. and are excited to go back again to visit Jill and Steph!!
