Spring Break 2018: Skiing in Colorado

We decided to hit the road for Spring Break 2018 and go skiing at Breckenridge Colorado. Based on advice from a friend of ours, we decided to  drive 10 hours to Denver and spend the night to give our bodies time to get use to the change in altitude.  This was a great move as Brett, Kate, Will and I all handled the altitude just fine.

I had follow up xrays of my foot right before we left and got some unfortunate news....... Still Broken!  So no skiing for this lady.  I was expecting this outcome and had in my mind that I would enjoy relaxing with my mother in the lodge with a book and warm beverages.

We didn't even know this kid was in the car.  He just settles in with a movie on his phone and is set.  Occasionally he asked for a snack or 2.  Other than that he was good to go :)

Kate enjoyed having the back of the vehicle all to herself.  We didn't hear much from her either during the 10 hr road trip.

The kids loved riding the gondola up to the top of the mountain.

We rented all of our ski equipment, loaded up the car and headed to the house we stayed in with Nana, Papa, Johnny and Josh.

Papa had some new boots made just for him for the trip.  He has some pretty fancy knees and ankles now since having them all replaced!   We needed to make sure he was comfortable and protected for this adventure :)

It took everyone a little bit of time to get use to walking in those crazy heavy boots.

Safety first with cool helmets.  We got Papa a bright green one so we can always find him!

Swimming in the hot tub surrounded by snow is so exciting and fun!

Up early and ready to go to the slopes!

Here we Go!

We enrolled Kate and Will in Ski School during the trip.  They were a bit nervous about going at first, but quickly realized how awesome it was!   They had professional instructors from all over the world who knew exactly what to do to get them up, skiing and confident on the slopes!

Yummy treats were included too!

A little shopping around the town of Breckenridge was fun too!

Everyone was pretty tired at the end of the day.  We had fun relaxing together at the house and cooking yummy dinners together.

Then we would get up and do it all over again!   One day we ventured over to Keystone Mountain to check it out!

Papa was such a great help during the whole trip with the kiddos.  Kate and Will learned SO much at ski school and were flying down the mountain by the 2nd half of the trip.  Papa and Brett did a great job chasing after them  making sure no other skiers would run into them on the way down.

As the days went on the evenings got funnier and funnier.  One night Papa put a pair of underwear on his head and went around the room taking everyone's dinner order from them :)

Crazy fun days lead to crashing hard in bed at night.

The weather was great and the views were amazing!

A trip full of great memories!  Until Next Time!!
