Tales with Tails and ICubs.

Kate has been involved in several camps and programs this summer in DSM.  She loves to stay busy!  I found a fun program at our Clive Library called "Tales with Tails" where she got the opportunity to read to a therapy dog.

We loved Maverick, the golden retriever Kate read to because he looked just like my dad's old golden, Rusty!  Kate really enjoyed her experience and got some candy shaped like dog bones at the end of her time with Maverick.

In their down time, Kate and Will have been playing in our big sandbox under the deck.....

and begging me to make brownies so they can lick the bowl and spoon.

The ICubs played the Memphis Redbirds a few weeks ago.  I married a die hard Cardinal fan, so living in a town with a Cubs team is difficult.  Brett jumped at the chance to watch his Redbirds in DSM.

Kate and Will thought we were at a "real" Cardinals game.  We have gone to St. Louis for many years to a game and the kids always have fun.  For some reason, they didn't quite connect that we didn't drive to St. Louis for this game.  Hey,  whatever works to get them excited for the game.

The Cubs mascot gave a high five to Will several times despite his red Cardinals shirt.

And of course we had to purchase lots of snacks!!  A game wouldn't be the same for us without multiple trips to the concession stand.  The highlight of the night was when Will and I were featured on the big screen for 10 seconds or so!!!  He was so excited to see our faces up on the HUGE Screen in the outfield!!
